November 1, 2019 Miner's Needle Hike - Dutchman #104 towards Miner's Needle

A beautiful day for our first hike. Jerry was the leader today and Montey was the sweep.

Peralta Trailhead
We started our hike at about 10:00 am onto Dutchman Trail #104. Following the signs for Dutchman #104 and passing the junction with Coffee Flat Trail #108, we started up some switchbacks. We stopped for an early lunch at 11:40, at a spot just off the switchbacks. We returned on the same trail and arrived back at the trailhead at 1:45 pm. It was a nice hike to get the group reacquainted and was a great start to the year.

To all Palm Creek Hikers
Welcome to the 2019-2020 hiking season at Palm Creek.
From your hike leaders, Skip & Connie Emerson and Committee members Nancy Archibald,
Jerry Garrison, Montey Hagenston, Richard Luxmore, David Rash, Kay Rash,
Mary Anne Wilson, John Paulson, John Robichaud, Nellie Cummings, Linda Blevins,
Kevin Day. Committee members signed up last season to do a variety of roles from leader
to ordering T-shirts.
Hiking groups:
This year there will be two groups.
The first group will be lead by Skip and Connie Emerson who will be hiking
Casa Grande Mountain and will be back about 11:00 - noon.
The second group will be lead by leaders who have signed up last season.
There may be a third hiking group depending on the need for a faster pace, size of the
groups and leadership.
There is a need for cars and trucks for transportation to the trailhead. Drivers will be given
directions, but it is important to be aware of the local conditions of the road and how to get
there prior to the day of the hike. We are in need of volunteers that would like to take on
the role of leading the drivers to the trailhead. Some of the leaders for the hikes this year
do not take their own vehicles. Everyone needs to work together to make this work.
Drivers should be compensated $10.00 from each rider.
The first hike outside of Casa Grande is to Coffee Flats. This is from the Peralta Trailhead on
November 1, 2019. Jerry Garrison is leading this hike.
